New Partnership Strengthens Academic and Research Collaboration in Lebanon

New Partnership Strengthens Academic and Research Collaboration in Lebanon

We are excited to announce a new milestone in our work in Lebanon!

On 4 May 2026, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed between ICU, represented by its legal representative in Lebanon, Mr. Jose Antonio Naya Villaverde, and the Faculty of Agriculture at the Lebanese University, represented by Dean Prof. Nadine Nassif. The signing ceremony also brought together Heads of Department, as well as members of the ICU and WaterMellon project teams.

This agreement marks the beginning of a promising collaboration aimed at strengthening ties between the two institutions in the fields of scientific research, education, and practical training.

Through this partnership, students of the Faculty of Agriculture will gain access to new learning opportunities, including training placements, participation in workshops, and involvement in field-based activities. The goal is to bring academic knowledge closer to real-world practice, enhancing students’ skills and strengthening the Faculty’s contribution to society and local communities.

One of the first joint activities under this MoU will allow master’s students to visit WaterMellon project sites. These visits will support their academic development and provide valuable input for the preparation of their Master’s theses, directly connecting research with on-the-ground experience. In addition, the collaboration will encourage joint scientific publications developed together with faculty professors.

This partnership represents an important step forward in building bridges between academia and applied research, fostering innovation, capacity building, and long-term impact.

We look forward to the opportunities this collaboration will bring and to the shared achievements ahead!
