Lebanon’s agricultural and livestock sectors, the problems and the solutions

On June 26th, our partner ICU participated in a workshop in Beirut where they presented WaterMellon project to a group of researchers, representatives of related Ministries, universities, research centres, and private companies.  The workshop brought together a large number of specialists in the field of agriculture and agricultural development.

The objective of the seminar was to guide investors toward the most suitable investments in Lebanon’s agricultural and livestock sectors, with a focus on maximising the opportunities available in these sectors. They also discussed the challenges that investors may face in the agricultural and livestock sector in Lebanon, including potential pitfalls and how to overcome them to ensure the success of the projects. Another objective was to utilise specialised consultants to provide in-depth insights on the current status of the agriculture and livestock sectors in Lebanon, including key issues and possible solutions. And finally, they formulated practical recommendations to advance the sector, in terms of filling some of the possible gaps.

ICU team presented the WaterMellon project, including the donor and implementing consortium, the activities it will undertake in Lebanon, and the challenges. Many participants asked questions about the proposed new crops and how to face the challenges.
